A cosy, historic restaurant in Zürich's old town on the Strehlgasse, part of the Kindli boutique hotel. It does Swiss cooking in a smart, characterful room and is listed in the MICHELIN Guide. This is the main reason I go to Zurich...to eat here. I always have the Zürcher Geschnetzeltes (it's heavenly). This is my absolute favourite restaurant in Zurich. They make the best veal Zurich-style, which I always have with rice.

Really tasty Swiss food in a very old-school setting. I especially recommend the veal sausage. The actual building dates back to 1862. Their walls are covered in paintings they've collected over the years. This is a must-visit for anyone travelling to Zurich. The food is top-quality, and the place is filled with beautiful artwork.

The Widder hotel’s boucherie and brasserie on Rennweg, with big windows onto the street and a terrace in summer. Chef Tino Staub’s menu is built around meat, from house-made sausages, pâtés and terrines to tripe and pork belly, and it holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

A restaurant and bar in a listed townhouse by Bellevue, a few doors along from the Kronenhalle, open since 1992. The kitchen cooks Swiss classics alongside Mediterranean and French dishes, and there is a garden for warmer evenings.

A brasserie in the restored south wing of Zurich’s main station, with tall windows, high ceilings and a terrace in summer. The menu runs from Zurich classics, such as veal ragout and beef tartare carved at the table, to French brasserie dishes.

A fish and seafood restaurant on the Limmatquai, run jointly by the Bianchi and Bindella families, whose fish shop stood on the same quay for a century. Delicious Italian food in a really lovely setting.

A pizzeria from the Bindella family on Kasernenstrasse by Europaallee, with a wood-fired oven turning out Neapolitan-style pizza alongside pasta, antipasti and Italian wines, in a big, modern room.

The ground-floor bar at the Storchen hotel on Weinplatz, with tables under the arcades right on the Limmat, serving drinks and small plates from morning until late. Beautiful spot for a cocktail or a coffee where you can enjoy a view of the lake and old town.

The Paradeplatz flagship of the Zurich confectioner, founded in 1836, with the shop downstairs and a café upstairs serving Luxemburgerli, cakes, and hot chocolate. A great place for a light lunch or dessert. The best chocolates in Zurich, so be sure to buy some to go.
