A Chinese restaurant in Temple City serving what it calls royal Manchu cuisine, the food of the last imperial dynasty. Delicious and satisfying Chinese dishes in a fun setting.

Nancy Silverton's Italian restaurant on Melrose Avenue, built around a white marble mozzarella bar. Really lovely place with good food and a comfortable counter for solo dining.

A seafood restaurant at the top of the Santa Monica Pier, serving Maine lobster since 1923. Beautiful setting with a view of the sea and delicious lobster rolls.

A steakhouse on North Canon Drive in Beverly Hills, with a seafood tower, a warm butter cake, and live music every night. Delicious steaks, incredibly huge portions, and a lovely setting.
