Neil Forbes's bistro down a lane off Thistle Street, with a daily-changing menu built on Scottish produce. Very good simple food in a lovely setting.

Roberta Hall-McCarron's all-day café, bar and bottle shop on Bonnington Road in Leith, from the team behind The Little Chartroom. My favourite meal in Edinburgh. Really enjoyed the food, especially the mussels.

A grand Victorian bar and oyster restaurant off Princes Street, known for its tilework as much as its seafood. Felt like a traditional pub but had decent food.
