Costas Spiliadis's Athens branch of Estiatorio Milos, on Kolokotroni Street inside his own hotel. Delicious seafood dishes. Modern interpretations of traditional Greek cuisine.

A kebab shop on Mitropoleos, by Monastiraki square. One of those historic and touristy souvlaki places, but it's a must for any visit to Athens.

A fish restaurant on the harbour at Mikrolimano, in Piraeus. I still think of this place often as they had this incredibly delicious spaghetti with lobster. Unfortunately the picture I have of it is too blurry to share, but take my word for it and order it when you go. It's also a very pleasant setting as it's on the water.

A seafood restaurant on the water at Vouliagmeni, south of Athens. Lovely setting overlooking the Saronic Gulf. Great food, but unfortunately I missed taking a photo of the especially good orzo with seafood.

The best lukumades I've ever had. Lukumades are spherical dough balls that have been deep-fried and covered in a sugary syrup.

A bakery on Misaraliotou Street in Koukaki, baking since 1961 and now in its third generation. Delicious Greek pastries but you might have to queue.

A pie shop on Voulis Street just behind Syntagma, baking since 1910 and still run by the family that opened it. Delicious pies and pastries.
