Inventive dishes with local ingredients and international influences in a modern setting. Among the signature dishes are the blood sausage sandwich and king prawns doused in fermented shrimp butter. The desserts were very good as well.

The place is really cosy but a little overly packed. Great food and an extensive wine list. Dishes change periodically with the seasons.

The Italian restaurant the Paradiso brothers opened on Challis Avenue in Potts Point in 2001. Really great simple traditional Italian dishes.

A burger bar on Phillip Street in the CBD, best known for the Blame Canada, with maple-glazed bacon and poutine. Yummy burger place in Sydney. Great selection of sides and huge milkshakes. I can say this is the best burger I had in Sydney as it was the only one I've had but I'm confident it's amongst the best.

Chinese restaurant specialising in Cantonese food. Pretty good but not mind blowing. The setting is nice but can be very busy.

The Swillhouse group's basement French restaurant on Bligh Street, open since 2016. Restaurant Hubert has really delicious and simple French fare. Lovely cosy atmosphere with live music.

The Sydney outpost of Chris Lucas's Melbourne restaurant, in the Griffiths Tea Building in Surry Hills. Really amazing place with inventive south east Asian influences. This was probably one of my favourite meals in Sydney.

They use the whole fish including the offals. I have to admit it wasn't really my thing but if you're into experimental seafood you might want to try it. I've kept them on my list for the hardcore foodies who like to eat experimental cuisine. It's also one of the most famous restaurants in Sydney.

Great quality beef in a nice art deco style setting. They are famous for their Grass-fed beef, dry-aged on site.

The Darling Quarter branch of Gelatissimo, the Australian gelato chain that started in Sydney in 2002. Not spectacular but not bad either especially if you spot a branch and you're craving ice cream.

Anita Gelato began in Neve Tzedek in Tel Aviv and is named after Anita Avital, whose sons run it. A chain of delicious gelato places. We tried the one in Bondi beach which has a nice old school feel to it.
