These are the three restaurants in the Istria Region I have eaten at myself and would recommend.

A truffle shop and restaurant in Livade, at the edge of the Motovun forest where Istria's white truffles are found. Truffle runs through the whole menu. They even have truffle flavoured ice cream! I also bought things from the shop on my road trip to Venice — truffle honey, and truffle flavoured crisps. This was my best meal in Istria.

The restaurant at San Canzian, a restored stone hamlet turned hotel in the hills above Buje. I had the full restaurant experience one night, and a quick meal in the bar on another, and both were excellent. The meal in the restaurant was a bit more special as you have the full luxury-hotel experience, exceptional view and really attentive staff. Also a fantastic wine list. I didn't love the dessert but that's because I'm not very adventurous with dessert but everything else was delicious.

A seafood restaurant on the water at Novigrad, on the Istrian coast. Great food and such a beautiful setting — right on the shore.
